TRAFFIC DIVERSION

The road at the main entrance (near the guard post) is currently being upgraded therefore the traffic is diverted to a temporary entrance through the construction site of the 2nd phase of Villa Suria. According to the notice sent by the developer through our mail boxes, (see image above) the closure of the entrance and the traffic diversion is effective from 10 October 2008 until 19 October 2008. However, till to date the main entrance is still closed due to the works and the said traffic diversion is still in effect.

As residents, most of us do not have any issue with developer doing upgrading work as we usually stand to benefit from it. However, with that said, one can also argue/reason out that the upgrading work is an afterthought on the part of the developer (meaning: why didn't they thought of it earlier and why now?). Obviously, we have to look at the silver lining in this matter.. heck we are getting a newly paved road to our entrance (not that the old road was so bad in the first place... maybe this one will be paved in gold with trimmings of 925 silver.. one can only wish!).

Another issue which I wish to highlight here is the issue of time or rather timing. Firstly and obviously, the failure of the developer to keep to its dateline. It is suppose to be completed by 19 October 2008 but as at to date, it is anything but complete. Even if you can not meet the dateline (which do happens) the residents deserves to be informed that their life would be further inconvenient but for their own benefit ('untuk kesenangan anda').

Secondly, the decision to do the said upgrading works during the muslim month of Shawal is a poor one. Everyone knows (except really ignorant people) that this is the unofficial month for open houses. The traffic diversion becomes not only inconvenient for the residents but also their guests.

To make things worse, there are no physical signage being put up to inform people of the road diversion! Common sense dictates that if you want to divert the traffic, you must inform the users. Pamphlet notice is not sufficient as visitors too need to be informed of the diversion.

More importantly, the issue of safety also needs to be addressed. Prior to this, residents felt reassured knowing the area is fenced and that there is only one entrance to the villas guarded by the sunway security team. However the opening of the temporary entrance have robbed us of this assurance. It is unfair to blame the security team when the developer provides them with no temporary guard post at the main entrance itself. They should not expect these poor guys to stand guard unshielded against the weather. As the guards are stationed a bit further away, many vehicles are now able to enter and leave the area unchecked and this is a danger to the residents and their family.

Although this post, in most part, is written tongue in cheek but on a serious note, we hope that the completion of the upgrading work can be expedited for the safety of the residents of Villa Suria. Please do not practice the normal Malaysia practice of waiting untill an untoward incident happens before any action is taken. The temporary entrance needs to be closed as soon as possible!

We are not taking away credit for the good job the developer have done so far in improving the quality of life for the residents nor to take awy the fact that Villa Suria, is a safe and great place to live. It truly is. The intention here is as a constructive criticism and to be taken note of so that such things does not happen again and that common sense prevails.

MAJLIS SUAI-KENAL VILLA SURIA 2008

Terima kasih.

Introduction to Villa Suria Community Blog

Welcome to our community blog.

'Villa Suria' refers to the community of the new residential housing area in Shah Alam developed by Sunway City Berhad. In particular, the residential community comprising of residents of Phase2A semi-detached (cluster) homes. Located in Shah Alam near the Puncak Perdana UiTM campus off the road going to Meru/Batu Arang from Bukit Jelutong/Sg. Buluh.

Due to its location near to the Bukit Cerakah forest reserve, the road leading to villa suria is still surrounded by greeneries. Villa Suria allows resort living away from the hustle and bustle of city life but still within close proximity to the city centre. As a new and growing suburb, more developments are being planned for this area which we believe to include shopping mall, sprint damansara highway and LRT lines.

This blog is dedicated to the community of Villa Suria as a place to share the experience living within guarded fence of the housing area. We hope to update in this blog the latest happenings and activities of the Villa Suria community and as an avenue to share our comments, thoughts and hopes for our home and the community.

Therefore, we humbly invite you to submit posts to this blog with the common intention of bringing closer the bond of relationship between neighbours and to make our homes a safer and better place for us to live.

Let me end this introduction with a common Malay phrase often taken for granted nowadays "Bersatu kita teguh, bercerai kita roboh". Lets us stand united as community.
